Cookie Policy
Last Updated: 20 April 2025
This Cookie Policy explains how Folio Bay uses cookies and similar technologies on its website and document drafting platform. It describes what these technologies do, why we use them, and how you can control your preferences.
Questions about this policy can be directed to [email protected].
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember certain information about your visit — such as your preferences or session state — so that features work correctly and your experience is consistent across pages.
Cookies serve several practical functions: keeping you signed in, remembering display settings, and helping us understand which parts of the platform are used most so we can make improvements. They do not contain your personal documents or drafting content.
Similar technologies — such as local storage items — work in a comparable way and are covered by the same framework described here.
2. Cookie Types We Use
Essential Cookies Always Active
These cookies are necessary for the platform to function. Without them, core features such as account sessions, security checks, and navigation would not operate. Because they are required for the service to work, they cannot be disabled through this preference panel.
- Session management — keeps your account session active while you use the platform.
- Security tokens — helps protect your account from cross-site request issues.
- Load balancing — routes requests consistently within a session.
Analytics Cookies
These optional cookies help us understand how users interact with the platform — which features are used, where users spend time, and where they may encounter difficulties. The data collected is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
- Page view tracking — records which pages and features are accessed.
- Session duration — measures how long sessions typically last.
- Error reporting — captures technical errors so we can address them.
Marketing Cookies
These optional cookies are used to understand how users arrive at the platform and, where applicable, to deliver relevant information through advertising networks. They help us assess the effectiveness of our communications.
- Referral tracking — records the source that directed you to the site.
- Campaign attribution — links visits to specific outreach campaigns.
Preference Cookies
These optional cookies store settings you have chosen — such as display options or region selection — so your preferences are remembered on your next visit.
- UI preference storage — remembers panel layout or display density settings.
- Language and locale — stores your selected language preference.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on our platform are set by third-party services we use to support operations. We do not control how those services use data collected through their cookies; their own privacy and cookie policies apply.
- Analytics providers (e.g. Google Analytics) — measure platform usage and performance.
- Advertising networks — may set cookies if you arrive via a paid placement.
- Map embeds — our contact page uses a Google Maps iframe, which may set cookies from Google.
You can find further information about Google's data practices at google.com/policies/privacy.
4. Cookie Duration
Cookies fall into two duration categories:
- Session cookies — exist only for the duration of your browser session. They are removed when you close your browser. We use these primarily for authentication and security purposes.
- Persistent cookies — remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. Expiry periods vary: preference cookies typically last 12 months; analytics cookies may persist for up to 24 months depending on the provider. Marketing cookies generally expire within 90 days.
You can view and delete individual cookies through your browser's cookie management interface at any time.
5. Your Cookie Preferences
Use the controls below to manage which optional cookie categories you allow. Your selections are saved to your browser and apply to this site. Essential cookies remain active at all times.
6. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
In addition to the controls above, you can manage or delete cookies directly through your browser settings. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect how the platform behaves — for example, you may need to sign in more frequently.

7. Your Rights
You have the right to withdraw your consent to optional cookies at any time by adjusting the toggles in Section 5 above. Withdrawing consent does not affect the use of essential cookies required for the platform to function.
Disabling analytics or marketing cookies will not prevent you from using the core drafting features, but certain tracking-dependent functions may behave differently.
If you have questions about how we handle data collected through cookies, or wish to exercise your rights under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486), please contact:
